Mrs. Butters is what we would call a "Miniature Specialist". She began growing pelargoniums in 1969 and since then has become a household word with her "minnies". Her cultivars, although only five, have gained her recognition by winning the George Spalding Memorial Trophy in 1975 with 'Spanky' in 1976 with 'Argyle' and in 1978 with 'Nyndee-too'. This trophy is awarded by the Australian Geranium Society for the most outstanding new introduction. Her 'Spanky' is one of the most beautiful tricolours produced in Australia. Mrs. Butters has also won numerous prizes and championships in competitive sections over many years, and has recently shown her ability in Floral Art, for which she has also won many prizes.
Mrs. Butters is a Fellow of the Australian Geranium Society and is currently a very active member.
