Mrs. Holmes was a keen Geranium lover and, over the years, introduced a number of varieties, all fancy leaf and mainly chance seedlings. She lived for her plants and her cats.
Her first introduction and perhaps the one which most geranium lovers know so very well was 'Ann Tilling' in 1959. This plant was named after her mother. Next came 'Joclyn Hockly', named after her great friend of many years. Many more were named after friends, like 'Olive Davis', 'Kelly Anne' and 'Frieda'. Those named after her cats included 'Celeste', 'Little Fifine' and 'Shannon'.
Mrs. Holmes would always be found amongst her plants and welcomed anyone who called to visit her. Friends interested in geraniums would always leave with cuttings which she loved them to have.
